In Memoriam: Noah Ruben

December 30, 2014 by Dr. Vid Raatior

RIP-Noah RubenWe are saddened by the tragic news from Chuuk that Acting Director of Education, Mr. Noah Ruben, tragically passed away last night apparently from a heart attack.  Formerly the Principal of Berea Christian School, Mr. Ruben had been serving as the Deputy Director of Education since April 2010. He was appointed to serve as Acting Director of Education on December 9, 2014 by the Chuuk Board of Education (CBOE) when the CBOE fired the Director, Mrs. Gardenia Aisek Macayaon. Though Mr. Ruben had not been well after suffering a stroke last year, he has tirelessly served as Deputy Director under Macayaon. He truly was the steady heart and soul of the Department of Education during these turbulent times of political strives between the Chuuk Board of Education and the Department of Education. Chuuk will truly miss this hero.

Thank you, sir, for your patience, faith, and your love for the children of Chuuk. We will miss your leadership.

Indeed sadden with the passing of on of the well respected, well educated, most beloved father, mentor, and godly man I had the honor and privilege to be under his leadership while attending Berea Christian High School. Though absent in the body to be with our heavenly Father, you will be in our hearts today, till we meet again someday. May the God of all comforts be with family, friends and the people of our beloved island of Chuuk.
